2010 PA Energy Fest Around the Corner!

and somehow I had hallucinated that I'd long ago posted the times and content of the presentations I'll be presiding over in the Transportation Tent, with the help of members of the EEVC, NJEAA and other EV owners and drivers!

Friday September 17 - 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.  Electric Cars: Vehicles of the Future on the Road Today  The history and advantages of electric vehicles, along with an overview of EV-related events and resources in Eastern PA and Central NJ. 
 
Saturday September 18 - 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.  Converting Your Vehicle to Electric: A Detailed Seminar   Slide show overview of the process, featuring the very popular Q&A session with owners & drivers of converted EV's.  $15 workshop fee.  Register in advance to be sure of your place!   click here to go directly to registration page

Sunday September 19 - 11:00 am - 12:00 pm  Electric Cars: Vehicles of the Future on the Road Today  

Sunday September 19 - 12:00 - 1:00 pm  The Nuts and Bolts of EV Charging Stations   If we are going to go electric, we will have to think about changes to our infrastructure. Hear from professionals about purchasing and installing a charging station in your municipality or at your workplace! Representatives of major manufacturers and distributors will give an overview of the process, and members of the EV's in Macungie team will be on hand to share their experiences working towards installation of a charging station in Macungie PA next spring.

As always there is much, much more happening at the Energy Fest even beyond the amazing stuff that goes down under the Transportation Tent (where, keep in mind, there will be a lecture or workshop every hour for the whole weekend!)  Come and check it out, and be sure to drop by the orange e-Van to say hello.  It's great to have the van there after the disappointment of last year -- when it looked like this and was stuck in paint jail -- remember?

Saint Bill reports that the e-Van has actually been commuting successfully between his home and NMTCC where it was converted (and where Bill has happily returned to work this September after a lengthy medical leave).  A 17-mile one-way trip is posing our batteries no problem; he's been charging up during the day to make sure of the ride home.  At last, post the time in pre-paint bondage and the technical difficulties of the spring, we have a vehicle that's rolling regularly and breaking in those batts!  Hurray!

Thanks to Dan Monroe of the Eastern Electric Vehicle Club,  look for a new feature on the blog and the BCR website beginning right after the Fest: a weekly round-up of EV-related news.  He's been posting this material to the EEVC mailing list and I have his permission to share it with a wider audience.  It's great stuff and I'm looking forward to posting more regularly, so really -- keep following along.
