The 2009 EV Conversion Workshop scheduled for June 22 - 26 will be held at the North Montco Technical Career Center in Lansdale, PA. Registration opens this week! There are twenty spots available; we'll spend 5 days together turning a stripped 1985 Vanagon into a fully-functional BEV.
For details of the prior conversion of this Vanagon see the 2007 entries in this blog. Using some of the components from the previous conversion with new batteries and controller, the 2009 workshop students will design and build an e-Van that will meet our performance specs of 50 miles per charge.
In addition to classroom introduction to electric vehicle theory and hands-on work in the auto lab, participating teachers will have the opportunity to create curriculum. Together we will generate activity ideas and resources for projects implementable during the 2009-10 school year.
Whether you are a teacher interested in alternative fuels, an experienced automotive technology instructor, or an EV enthusiast who's been dreaming about converting your own vehicle, this course will have something to offer you!
